20th Anniversary Information
Since its inception in 1984, the Brothers of Theta Beta have been an ambitious group, always seeking to raise the standard of excellence that we hold ourselves to. Our chapter’s 20th Anniversary was no exception, with a weeklong celebration full of class and style.
The festivities began with an Anniversary Commemoration on March 29th, 2004, twenty years to the day on which Theta Beta became a chapter. Active and Alumni brothers joined together for food, fun, and fraternization. We also took a moment to look at some fraternity history and capped off the night by tagging BU's fraternity rock.
The fun continued five days later at a performance of the BU Concert Band to celebrate Theta Beta and Eta Gamma's continued service to the band. The concert featured pieces from the ΚΚΨ/ΤΒΣ National Commissioning Project, the world premiere of Theta Beta and Eta Gamma's Joint Hymn, and the world premiere of Bideccenial, a piece composed for band by active brother Adam "Montezuma" Knauss. A special highlight of the concert was the performance of Henson's Chorale and Alleluia, conducted by past BU Band Director and Honorary Brother Joseph A. Wright, III.
The main event, however, came after the concert, when 145 brothers, sisters, and friends all gathered for a cruise around Boston Harbor. From founding brothers to our newest initiates, almost every pledge class in Theta Beta's history was represented at this gathering. Old friends met for the first time in years, and new friendships were made. We sailed, dined, and danced for over four hours, and copious amounts of fun was had by all. We ended our celebration with an Anniversary Ceremony the following day. The ceremony was a poignant reminder of our chapter's roots and an inspiration for years to come.
The celebration of Theta Beta's 20th Anniversary was a great occasion for all. Everyone had fun, met new and old brothers, learned about our chapter's past, and, most importantly, realized that the brotherhood that brought us together is as strong today as it was twenty years ago. We would like to extend special thanks to our many alumni for attending, and we hope to see all of you at the 25th Anniversary!
