The History of Kappa Kappa Psi

An enterprising man named Bohumil Makovsky founded the Fraternity at Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College (now Oklahoma State University), on November 27, 1919. "Boh," as he was affectionately called by his students, had a dream: he sought a means of promoting interest in band music and a way of drawing together the members of various college bands throughout the country.

Aided by a man named William A. Scroggs and nine other members of that band, Boh drew up a plan for a national fraternal society of bandmembers. The ten men initiated into Alpha Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi in 1919 were: William A. Scroggs (President), A. Frank Martin, Raymond D. Shannon, Clyde Haston, Carl Stevens, William Copedge, Dick Hurst, Asher Hendrickson, and Iron H. Nelson.
